'Homeland' Season 5: Carrie's New Life Unfolds

"Homeland" Season 5 is due to unfold on Showtime this Sunday, which will premiere with a look at Carrie Mathison's new life in Berlin.

With Season 4 of "Homeland" leaving off with Carrie's life in a messed up state, Season 5 premieres with the first of 12 episodes, showing the ex-CIA intelligence officer two years from the events of the previous season.

Last season, Carrie's stint as the CIA station chief in Islamabad, Pakistan ended disastrously, what with the death of a number of Americans and a terrorist leader's escape after a raid on the embassy. Not only was she held responsible when a young asset was killed, her assassin love interest Quinn has left for a deep cover assignment in Syria, and her father passes away in the interim.

In Carrie's new life in Season 5, it appears she has started getting back on her feet working as head of security for German billionaire, Otto During's charitable foundation. She has her toddler daughter, Franny, with her and she's found some romance in her life dating a German lawyer working for the same foundation, the three of them living together as one happy family.

However, the situation starts going downhill when a data leak emerges that points fingers at CIA assets illegally spying on German citizens, and Carrie, being ex-CIA, is thrown into the mix with the agency believing she has gone rogue once again, the accusation bringing her back into Saul Berenson's radar.

Attacked while on her way to work, Carrie begins her own investigations into the matter and to find out who has been trying to assassinate her employer, and possibly her, as well.

Episode 1 of Season 5, titled "Separation Anxiety' is expected to premiere this Sunday, October 4 at 9pm on Showtime, with several websites like Putlocker, Hulu, the Watch Series, and TV.com offering live streaming of episodes for online audiences.
