'Homeland' Season 5 News, Update: Synopsis For Episode 1 Says Everything's Changed for Carrie Mathison

Big changes are coming in the fifth season of Showtime's critically-acclaimed political drama series "Homeland" as the show will strive to tackle on some of the recent global issues. But before the story delves into the current events, fans have yet to find out what has been going on for Claire Danes' lead character who is now reportedly living a new life.

 Citing International Business Times, the synopsis for the season primer titled "Separation Anxiety" said that "the game has changed for Carrie Mathison" who is now out from the reaches of the CIA and is "trying to start a new life." However, she soon realizes that she's now "the one with a target on her back."

"As the danger intensifies, and without Saul and Quinn to rely on, one thing becomes clear she's never been at greater risk or with more to lose."

Several promo pictures were also shared over the week and it showed Carrie reuniting with her former CIA superior Saul Berenson. Followers, however, won't particularly be expecting some warm hugs between the two colleagues after the boss ditched out Mathison for Dal Adal in the bid for a higher position.

The ex-CIA operative can also be found living a normal life beside her daughter, Francesca, and boyfriend Jonas Happich while currently working as an employee in a German private security firm. But as expected, the blissful, one big happy family set-up won't stay long as Carrie's past catches up to her.

IBT went on to add that Peter Quinn's life will also take some 360 degree turn when he returns to his assassin days. He was last seen leaving for Iraq with a broken heart.

The trailer released by the network featured Quinn talking to Saul about a killing target whose name will be in a box.

"If the name is in the box, I will take care of anything you put there," he said in the video.

The highlight reel also revealed that Carrie's life is in danger. Thanks to Quinn, Carrie finds out that her name is actually on the "kill list."

"Some wants you dead," Quinn told Carrie.
