Gansa revealed that the episodes will deal with the question of balancing civil liberties and civil security. In addition, Gansa also spoke about how the recent terrorist attacks have affected the series. The finale of "Homeland" Season 5 presented a similarity with the recent bombings in Paris.

With that, he said, "Sometimes I wish we hadn't been so relevant, I have to say." In another interview, the executive producer also explained that the upcoming season will delve deeper into Carrie's past. This will allow fans to see how she became friends with Saul Berenson, as well as how she began her career in intelligence work.

Gansa said, "I think that'd be an interesting thing to explore, now that I think about it. I mean, you will in Episode 12, hear the story of how Quinn was recruited. It's nice to know where these people came from."

He gave a hint about how Carrie had began her career in the CIA. It was stated that ever since college, she already showed potential, which led to someone referring her to Saul. With that, fans can expect a lot of flashbacks for the episodes to come.

"Homeland" Season 6 is expected to air sometime this year.
