'Homeland' Season 6: Will There Be A Big Time Gap Between Seasons 5 And 6?

A lot has been said about the two-year jump that Showtime espionage drama/thriller "Homeland" took between its fourth and fifth seasons. It allowed viewers to see Carrie's (Claire Danes) maternal side, it shone the spotlight on the differences between Carrie and her mentor Saul (Mandy Patinkin), and, in terms of where each character was at the end of Season 4, the time gap worked.

But will a similar jump between Seasons 5 and 6 make sense? Probably not. As The International Business Times and Melty point out, creating a wide time gap between the last season and the next one would undo the great storytelling that led to Season 5's cliffhangers. Will Carrie accept Otto's (Sebastian Koch) proposal? Will Quinn (Rupert Friend) live or die? Will Carrie and Saul reconcile?

These are questions that could potentially lead to major series moments and, as such, a time jump of more than a few months could disappoint many "Homeland" fans.

Meanwhile, one of the main villains from Season 5 has nothing but praise for Friend, whose character, Quinn, was captured and poisoned by his group in the previous season. René Ifrah, who played the role of jihadist Bibi in Season 5, told Design & Trend that he had not seen Friend in "Homeland" before he was cast. But he was so impressed by the actor that after the first day of shooting, he immediately returned to his hotel and watched the previous episodes.

"He was amazing to watch," Ifrah gushed. "I became increasingly more excited for the next day we'd have to work together."

The actor continued, "He is not only an incredibly intelligent and disciplined actor but a really, and I mean really, nice guy."

Not much is currently known about the sixth run of "Homeland" apart from that it will be set in New York City and that Quinn will be "severely damaged."

"Homeland" Season 6 is expected to air later this year.
