'Hoozuki no Reitetsu' Season 2 Air Date, Spoilers: Coolheaded Demon Ogre Joins the Fall Anime Line-Up
The coolheaded demon ogre will be back for the upcoming sophomore season of the Japanese supernatural-comedy anime series, "Hoozuki no Reitetsu (Hoozuki's Coolheadedness)."
The series is based on the Japanese manga series of the same name, written and illustrated by Natsumi Eguchi, and it features a demon ogre named Hoozuki, who serves the King and Head Judge of Hell. The ongoing manga series was first serialized on Kodansha's Weekly Morning in 2011 and has since been released in 24 collected volumes.
Wit Studio adapted the manga series into anime in 2014 and extended the said adaptation into three original animation DVDs (OADs). A new two-part OAD was released earlier this year in March.

A new 15-second trailer for the upcoming season shares glimpses of Hoozuki and his two loyal subordinates, Karauri and Nasubi. It has indeed been a long time since the first season ended in 2014, but it seems that Hoozuki will still be up to his old ways as he does the bidding of King Enma, who is both King and Head Judge of Hell.
King Enma decides what kind of hell the dead rightfully belongs to, and it is up to Hoozuki to take the said dead soul there. Conflicts occur when the serious-minded demon ogre attempts to fix some of the unusual problems that may occur in the Japanese form of hell.
The upcoming second season will also come with a new opening theme titled, "Dai! Jigoku Jigoku Bushi," performed by Jigoku no Sata All Stars. The CD single for the said song is scheduled for release in both limited and regular editions on Wednesday, Oct. 11.
On the other hand, the ending theme, titled "Riverside Lovers," will be performed by Uesaka Sumire, who also plays the part of the famous idol in Hell, Peach Maki.
"Hoozuki no Reitetsu" premieres on Saturday, Oct. 7, late night at 1 a.m. JST on Tokyo MX, Sun TV, and BS11. It will also air on KBS Kyoto 30 minutes later and on AT-X on Monday, Oct. 9, at 10:30 p.m. JST.
