'Horizon Zero Dawn' Latest News: Gamers can Play as Aloy in 'Monster Hunter: World'

The first crossover for PlayStation 4 has been announced, and it involves "Horizon Zero Dawn" and the soon to be released "Monster Hunter World."

"World," which is the newest installment in the action role-playing video game series "Monster Hunter," follows this year's "Monster Hunter XX" release on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS.

As announced during Sony's Paris Games Week event, the first beta for "Monster Hunter: World" starts on Dec. 9 for PlayStation Plus subscribers. It includes three quests, with two taking place on "The Great Forest" map, while the final mission will be in a desert like are called the "Wildspire Waste."

Players, who are given the options to play solo or online, will also be able to hunt the Great Jagras, an Anjanath, and an armored Barroth.

The beta will end on Dec. 12, and the full "Monster Hunter" game will be released for the PlayStation 4 console early next year. And the good news is that players will get to opportunity to play as the "Horizon Zero: Dawn" main character and excellent dinosaur hunter, Aloy.

Players will be able to acquire her full armor set, including the bow, of course, as well as her Palico armor. The character will be exclusive only to the PlayStation 4 version.

A trailer was shown during the event, in which Aloy appeared near the end of the video. It also featured a bunch of new monsters and the different environments in the game.

Previous installments of the game franchise included similar costume changes, just like the "Legend of Zelda" armor in "Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate," which was released on the Nintendo 3DS a few years ago.

Fans are encouraged to wait for more updates regarding the game's developments.

"Monster Hunter: World" is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Jan. 26, 2018. The Windows PC release will follow at a later date.
