'Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number' Update: Level Editor Arrives December as Beta on Steam

Top-down shooter action video game sequel "Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number" is going to let players try the game's level editor soon. According to a report by IGN, developer Dennaton Games recently announced that the open beta for the game's level editor will go live on Steam this coming Dec. 10.

Through the level editor, gamers can finally give murdering goons a little rest and head on to putting their time in creating custom levels where their fellow players can viciously murder goons in the arenas they've built.

The update is only going to be available for Windows though, but a Mac and Linux version will be made available in the future. Unfortunately, no editor for PS3, PS4 or Vita. Beta-testers will also be allowed to download the level editor even without an invitation. They can play with it until the beta closes in early January.

The studio's blog also released other essential information including the reason why the beta is on Steam. It said that putting it up in the digital game store platform will make the task of gathering bugs easier. The automatic update also ensures that everyone is playing with correct version.

Workshop will also not be available at the beginning but Dennaton promises to add it in later. Levels can be shared through sending fellow testers the level folders. Everyone can expect to see all the contents available from the start but it's no guarantee that all levels in the beta will be portable to the final version of the level editor.

There will be no custom music editor so as to prevent illegal file sharing. Custom sprite editor will not be available from the studio as well but there are some people that have created their own. There's a plan to put up video tutorials but Dennaton believes that gamers will figure it out on their own.
