However, there are reports that Frank Underwood, played by Kevin Spacey, and Claire, played by Robin Wright, will find a way to fix their relationship. It was stated that there is a possibility that they will adopt a child in order to reignite their union. There are also reports stating that Campbell's character will have a partner, who will form a team with her to take down the Underwood couple.

With that, the season will see an exciting rivalry between the two groups. Fans are hoping that this will help the two new characters encourage Frank and Claire to face their differences and get back together.

As for the plot of the series, Willimon stated, "We're reading the same headlines that you are reading. But we're not trying to deliberately parallel what's going on in real life. It would be a fool's errand to try because we're writing the season many months before it airs. So if we did that, it would feel really old."

There are speculations that "House of Cards" season 4 will be premiering before the 2016 elections. However, there are several other theories on when exactly the series will begin.

While there has yet to be an official announcement on its release date, "House of Cards" season 4 is expected to premiere on March 4, 2016.
