House of Cards Season 5 may be the last season for the series.
House of Cards Season 5 will soon be seen on Netflix and reports say that the next season will feature the first female U.S president. Interestingly, this was the same theme in Showtime's "Homeland." There are more ways that the two series are connected and fans may have never guessed what they are.
Elizabeth Marvel pirated by Homeland
House of Cards' Elizabeth Marvel will not be in season 5 anymore, she was taken by the Showtime series to star as Elizabeth Keane. She is the show's first US female president. Marvel was a mainstay of the series playing "Heather Dunbar" in the last 4 seasons. Fans regret losing Marvel and said that the actress was a big loss.

There were even rumors that House of Cards will finally cease to air because of Marvel's departure however this may not be the case at all since major performers are still in the roster. There is Kevin Spacey as incumbent United States President Frank Underwood as well as Robin Wright who stars as the wife and VP Claire Underwood.
Differences between the shows
In Homeland, the new female president will be elected by the people. In House of Cards, she will ascend to power. Fans thought that at Frank Underwood would meet his death in Season 5 which will make his wife Claire as President. She is the next in line to being the commander-in-chief anyway.
Fans also theorized how Frank Underwood would die. They say that he will die because of natural causes while some said that he would likely be murdered. Reports say that Underwood will be killed by Doug Stamper, his right-hand man. This plan will be hatched by none other than Claire Underwood as well.
Still others say that it is unlikely that Stamper will do such a thing because he is very loyal to Underwood.
House of Cards Season 5 its last?
There are speculations that the next season for House of Cards may be its last. Netflix has not confirmed this. The series has recently faced a lot of negative rumors but it has broken new grounds when it was permitted to be shown in the UK via Sky for the first time.
House of Cards is already filming in the Baltimore area. Dana Brunetti, producer of the show said that there were no plans to end the series but she did not confirm if there were to be more seasons after season 5.
Season 5 will air on Netflix first quarter of 2017. This would coincide with the United States having a new President.
