'House of Cards' Season 6 Spoilers: Claire Targets Frank's Closest Aides

Claire (Robin Wright) knows that to take down Frank (Kevin Spacey), she needs to eliminate his closest advisors in the next season of "House of Cards."

Spoilers for the new installment reveal that Claire's rise to power will take center stage, while Frank will have to grit his teeth and pretend that he is happy for her. After getting elected as the next president, Claire has officially made her dream come true to become the most powerful woman in the free world. She is destined to become one of the most beloved leaders in history, something that her husband will have trouble accepting.

Frank has no plans to surrender, though. With Douglas Stamper's (Michael Kelly) help, he is confident that he will soon return to power and eliminate Claire. His loyal aide has been teased to team up with LeAnn Harvey (Neve Campbell) to help Frank with his quest. Both believe that he is the only one qualified to lead the American people. There are speculations, though, that even Frank's friends will turn their backs on him.

There is always the possibility that Doug will be swayed by Claire's convincing speech that supporting Frank will only lead to trouble. Since she is expected to become more influential in season 6, it may not be too difficult to make Doug betray Frank and join the other side. If this happens, the ex-POTUS will have no chance of winning against his wife. Even if he denies it, most of his successes were due to Doug's hard work.

Meanwhile, reports that production for the new season was affected due to a shooting incident surfaced recently. A mass shooting allegedly took place near the set of the series in Baltimore. It was revealed that three people were dead and two wounded in a nearby business park. The suspect is still at large. Media Rights Capital and Netflix released a statement regarding the incident.

"We have been in touch with local authorities and are aware of a shooting situation that happened about a mile away from the House of Cards set. Production on the show has not been impacted," the statement reads.

"House of Cards" season 6 is rumored to air in May 2018.
