'Housewives' Ramona Singer Slams Jill Zarin Over 'Mario Choked Her' Tweet
Ramona Singer recently slammed Jill Zarin after the former "Real Housewives of New York" star weighed in on her failed marriage.
On Tuesday Zarin, who often clashed with Singer on the hit Bravo reality show, suggested that the Manhattan socialite has been in denial over her reported marital woes for some time. On Friday reports of a domestic dispute between Singer and Mario, her husband of 27 years, ultimately uncovered the estranged couple's recent separation and on Thursday she filed for divorce, according to People magazine.
"Ramona has been protecting him," Zarin told People. "She looked the other way when people told her he was cheating."
Singer reportedly "threw a fit and called the cops" last week after finding Mario, 60, at their Southampton home with socialite Kasey Dexter. The estranged couple reportedly agreed that Singer would reside in their Manhattan home and that Mario would move into their Southampton house in the wake of their separation, The New York Post's Page Six reported.
When police arrived Singer, 57, reportedly accused Mario of getting physical during the domestic dispute, but no charges were filed. Zarin alluded to the reports of violence in a recent tweet about Singer's marriage, which garnered a nasty response.
"I am glad you finally told the truth @ramonasinger. I hope he gets what he deserves," Zarin wrote while retweeting an article headlined: 'Mario CHOKED her.'
A seemingly annoyed Singer was quick to respond to Zarin's tweet by lashing out at the entrepreneur.
"Think it's sad she feels the need to use my personal business to try to make herself relevant," Singer tweeted.
Zarin has been at odds with the Singers for some time and she recounted an awkward run-in she had with the pair in December.
"He screamed at me," Zarin said of Mario. "He was mad at me for admitting that he flirted with all the Housewives."
Singer, who is yet to publicly confirm divorce reports, recently asked for "privacy" at this time. She shares a teenage daughter Avery with Mario.
"This is a personal and private matter for our family," she said in a statement. "For my daughter Avery's sake, I would appreciate everyone respecting our privacy during this difficult time."
