Houston Rockets Guard Chris Paul May Miss Up to Four Weeks Due to a Knee Injury

Houston Rockets point guard Chris Paul could miss up to four weeks of action due to his bruised left knee.

Paul had to sit out the final minutes of the Rockets' season-opening win over the Golden State Warriors and he hasn't suited up for the team since then. Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni has recently told reporters that the perennial All-Star was "more week-to-week" than day-to-day, and they weren't going to rush him back. And according to the New York Times' Marc Stein, Paul could be out for a month.

"There are fresh fears in Houston that Rockets point guard Chris Paul could be sidelined for a month by a bone bruise in his left knee suffered during the exhibition season, according to two people with direct knowledge of the situation," Stein said in his report.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski has also reported that Paul could be sidelined for two to four weeks while he recovers from the bone bruise in his left knee, and he added that the Rockets are looking to add a point guard.

The Rockets have reportedly reached out to Jameer Nelson, per ESPN's Chris Haynes, but the veteran guard has already agreed to join the New Orleans Pelicans, so they will have to look elsewhere.

Paul originally injured his knee when he bumped knees with Mario Chalmers in their preseason game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Oct. 11, but the injury was not considered serious.

"It's only a bump. It's not a tear or something like that. It's a bruise. We just have to make sure he's 100 percent the next time he plays," D'Antoni said on Friday, via the Houston Chronicle. "I don't think there's (concern.) All indications are he should be OK," he continued.

D'Antoni also did not rule Paul out of their game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday, but they probably won't bring him back unless he's 100 percent healthy.
