How Many Women Have Accused Harvey Weinstein Of Sexual Assault, Harassment?

Harvey Weinstein of The Weinstein Company, which has produced hundreds of big-budget films since 2005, recently made headlines due to sexual harassment accusations made against him by several women, including famous celebrities. The long list of sexual harassment accounts started with actress Ashley Judd, who claimed to have been assaulted by the executive two decades ago.

News about Weinstein's inappropriate behavior started when Judd shared to Times how she was harassed by Weinstein back in 1997, while filming for her film "Kiss the Girls" was ongoing. According to the actress, she went to the Peninsula Beverly Hills Hotel sometime that year to attend a business breakfast meeting with Weinstein, but when she arrived there, she was shocked to see Weinstein welcoming her in a bathrobe, asking her to give him a massage or watch him shower.

"Women have been talking about Harvey amongst ourselves for a long time, and it's simply beyond time to have the conversation publicly," she told the publication.

Shortly after Judd's account was published, at least seven more women also supported the actress' claims and revealed that they had also experienced sexual harassment from Weinstein. Many of the victims who revealed themselves afterward even accused Weinstein of raping them.

The accounts of Weinstein's victims shocked the entertainment industry, especially since many of his victims are famous models, actresses, and media personnel of different nationalities, including Italian model Ambra Battilana Gutierrez, actress Mira Sorvino, producer Jessica Barth, and French actress Emma de Caunes.

A few days after the first wave of Weinstein's victims surfaced, other big names came forward in a follow-up report from the Times, including Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rosanna Arquette, and the likes. Paltrow, who was Brad Pitt's girlfriend at the time, said that after she told Pitt about how Weinstein made advances to her, Pitt confronted Weinstein, and the two got into a heated exchange.

As of this writing, the accusations against Weinstein are numbered at least 40, spanning from 1980 to March 2015.
