'How To Get Away With Murder' Season 4 Spoilers: Laurel's Family Skeleton To Be Exposed

Laurel's (Karla Souza) family secrets will all be revealed in the upcoming season of "How to Get Away with Murder."

Executive producer Peter Nowalk recently told TVLine that the new installment would dwell on the Castillos' backstory. Specifically, viewers will finally learn why Laurel's father, Jorge (Esai Morales), sent Dominic (Nicholas Gonzalez) to kill her boyfriend, Wes (Alfred Enoch), when they did not even know each other personally. The revelation will definitely clear up a lot of things on the mystery surrounding Wes' murder. According to the EP, the new season will be the perfect opportunity to introduce the Castillos and explain the huge role they will play in the upcoming storyline.

"This is the perfect way to reveal more of where [Laurel] comes from," Nowalk teased. "It will make a lot of sense why he ordered Wes to be killed. It's fun to dig more into what Laurel's backstory is and create a mystery around her family."

Laurel will definitely have a lot on her plate when season 4 kicks off. First, she is pregnant with Wes' baby. There are speculations that she could end up getting an abortion. Then, there is her burning need to find her boyfriend's killer. While Annalise (Viola Davis) and the others will no longer be hung up on tracking the criminal, spoilers indicate that Laurel will remain focused on getting justice for Wes. Her determination alone will keep the investigation from fizzing out. Of course, learning that her own father killed him is bound to shock Laurel to the core, and fans are looking forward to seeing how exactly she will react to the huge revelation.

"We have to start the season wondering does Laurel have any idea that her dad basically killed Wes, and what is she going to do about that if she does? Wes was the heart of the show, and now he's dead. I think someone has to work to still solve his murder, because it's unsolved," the EP shared with The Hollywood Reporter.

"How to Get Away with Murder" season 4 will air on Sept. 28 at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
