'How to Stop Time' Cast and Plot News: Benedict Cumberbatch to Star and Co-Produce Upcoming Film

Recent reports have confirmed that British actor Benedict Cumberbatch is going to star in an upcoming film titled "How to Stop Time" where he will also serve as one of the movie's executive producers.

"How to Stop Time" is based on a same title, yet-to-be-released novel by Matt Haig. The "Doctor Strange" actor will play the main role of the 41-year-old Tom Hazard, who was able to live through several centuries because of a rare condition. Through the years, Tom has been shifting from one identity to another. But for the most part of the story, Tom decided to be a history teacher in London.

In a statement handed to Variety, the movie and novel's narrative was described as "a wildly imagined love story" that goes through time and several continents.

On the other hand, the production of the movie was officially handed over to Cumberbatch's production company SunnyMarch in cooperation with StudioCanal.

Haig reportedly told The Hollywood Reporter, "The prospect of Benedict Cumberbatch playing Tom Hazard is a hugely exciting one and I could not be happier about working with Adam and Jamie, and to be reunited with StudioCanal."

Meanwhile, the chief executive officer of StudioCanal U.K., Danny Perkins, has also expressed their delight in working on the film that lets them continue their "relationship with Haig." According to the same THR article, Perkins added that they are happy to "build upon our long-running and dynamic partnership with SunnyMarch, Benedict Cumberbatch and Adam Ackland."

Perkins also has high hopes about the prospects of the upcoming film, saying: "This compelling novel will make for a powerful film that falls in line with StudioCanal's ongoing commitment to British talent, storytelling and production. We look forward to bringing it to audiences around the world."

Variety also noted that "How to Stop Time" is the first adult novel Haig has written in the last four years, coming off of a successful children's book titled "The Girl Who Saved Christmas" which was released in late 2016.
