HP Slate 7 Specs Unveiled for HD and Extreme Versions

The HP Slate 7 specs were unveiled for both the Extreme and HD versions earlier this week.

HP introduced the public to its new line of tablets that also included the HP Slate 10 HD and HP Slate 8 Pro. This is the company's second official attempt at releasing a tablet line.

All of these new devices run Android. HP's TouchPad, which debuted in 2011, ran the company's WebOS software.

The HP Slate 7 Extreme features a 7-inch display with 1280 x 800 resolution, a Tegra 4 processor, 5-megapixel rear camera, a VGA front camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a stylus.

The Slate 7 HD comes with a 7-inch 1280 x 800 IPS display, a Marvell PXA986 CPU, Beats Audio, a front and back camera, microSD and a battery that is said to provide the user with 9 hours of power. The device will also come in a 3G/4G model that will offer 200MB of free 4G data with T-Mobile's network for a period of two years.

The Slate 10 basically functions as a low-end 10-inch Android tablet, with the same 1280 x 800 resolution as the 7-inch HD model. It comes with the same Marvell processor, microSD slot, Beats Audio, and front and rear cameras.

The HP Slate 8 Pro is powered by a Tegra 4 chip, and has an 8-inch display with 1600 x 1200 resolution. It also comes with an 8-megapixel back camera, a 2-megapixel front shooter, a microSD slot, and a micro-HDMI output.

The four tablets basically function as HP's attempt to break back into the tablet market by catering to each and every audience. However, judging from the specs, it will be hard for the company to truly make its mark, as it isn't doing anything too innovative.
