Rumors have emerged HTC is planning to launch its HTC A9 before the year ends.

Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC may be looking to reverse its fortune with a new smartphone called the HTC A9 it is reportedly launching by November.

Also known as the HTC Aero, rumors have surfaced it will appear in the market, not as a flagship handset, but as one of US carrier Sprint's high-end products.

Images of the upcoming device have leaked recently, showing it side by side with an iPhone 6, to which it appears very similar in term of design.

The leaked image first appeared in Chinese social media website, Weibo, depicting the HTC A9 in a bright gold color with the HTC brand stamped on its rear. Another image shows a black iteration of the device.

The images show the device's camera above its antenna strip, which is similar to the HTC M8's camera location. It also appears to have a 2.5D curved glass display.

With the HTC One M9, with very minimal upgrades from its predecessor, the HTC One M8, hardly making a dent in the smartphone market upon its release in March, HTC had reached a point where its stock was trading in the negative.

The HTC A9, which appears to borrow heavily from the iPhone 6's design, may be meant to pick HTC up by its bootstraps and bring it back in the smartphone game.

The HTC A9 is rumored to be carrying a 10-core MediaTek Helio X20 chip, which, according to Engadget, isn't due to be released for commercial use until 2016. However, the chip is likely to be included in Chinese-specific smartphone models.

The HTC A9 may also be sporting a 5.2-inch Quad HD display over 4GB of RAM, all running on a 3,500mAh battery.
