HTC Butterfly 3 Update: To Be Launched Worldwide Soon, Specs Details Revealed
Good news for those who have been waiting for HTC's flagship smartphone, the Butterfly 3. According to IBN Live, the device model was recently launched in a special event in Taiwan wherein it was announced that it will be made available soon around different markets all over the globe.
The high-end smartphone is not a new one though as it has been initially released in Japan back in May. With the name J Butterfly, the model was also exclusively sold in Japan markets only. Android Headlines reported that HTC has rebranded the phone and it will be known as the Butterfly 3 worldwide. It is expected to have a price tag of $600 when it rolls out in Taiwan by Oct. 20.
The smartphone's specifications are also identical to the Japanese version. GSM Arena reported that the Butterfly 3 will sport a 5.2-inch QHD LCD display with 1440x2560 pixels. It is designed to be water and dust resistant with IPX5/IPX7 and IP5X certification.
Under its hood is 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 (quad-core 2GHz + quad-core 1.5GHz) SoC, matched with 3GB of RAM and Adreno 430 GPU. It is equipped with an internal storage capacity of 32GB and could be expanded by up to 2TB through microSD. It will run with Android 5.0 Lollipop.
As stated in GSM Arena, the smartphone boasts an advanced and excellent camera. It has a 20.2-megapixel rear camera complete with dual-LED flash. Aside from that, it comes with a secondary sensor to capture distance information, which ultimately leads to a feature called by HTC as a Duo setup. This allows post-shot autofocusing and a few other innovative effects. The lens is also Sapphire crystal-protected f/2.2 27.8mm-equivalent. Meanwhile, its front-facing camera will be 13-megapixel with BSI sensor. 4K video recording is supported as well.
Users of the smartphone can also enjoy 4G LTE connectivity, as well as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and 3G connectivity options. Giving it power and life is a 2700mAh battery, which is similar to the J Butterfly. No details have been announced yet regarding global availability and price but it will certainly be unveiled very soon.
