HTC Desire Eye vs. Sony Xperia Z2 Specs Review: Price, Features Comparison
Both HTC and Sony have made their foray into the selfie-centric market, with HTC's Desire line and Sony's Xperia range. Sony has been particularly successful with its Xperia Z2, with its crystal clear display and impressive camera, while HTC has gotten a lot of fans with its Desire Eye, a device which is touted to be the ultimate selfie phone.
Here, we compare the two handsets.
Design:
The HTC Desire Eye looks very different from the all metal design of HTC's flagship, the One M8. The body is made out of plastic with a two tone design, and the Desire Eye holds the distinction of being HTC's first waterproof phone. It can be submerged up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes. It measures 5.97 x 2.91 x 0.33 inches and weighs 5.43 ounces and it's available in matte blue, white, and red.
Meanwhile, the Xperia Z2 has the same aluminium-edged design and glass front and back as the Z1. Like the Desire Eye, it's waterproof and can survive up to 30 minutes in 1.5 meters of water. The phone measures 5.78 x 2.89 x 0.32 inches and weighs 5.75 ounces. It's available in black, purple, and white.
Features:
The Desire Eye and the Xperia Z2 have a lot of similarities when it comes to specs. Both phones have a 5.2-inch display with the same resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and pixel density of 424ppi. The handsets also come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad core processor. The Desire Eye and Xperia Z2 both come with 16GB of internal memory out of the box, and both can be expanded with a micro SD card up to 128GB.
What set these devices apart from one another is definitely the cameras. The Xperia Z2 has a 20MP rear facing camera and a 2.2MP front shooter, and while the Desire Eye comes with a 13MP rear camera, it has an astounding 13MP front-facing camera that comes with a dual LED flash, making selfies clearer and generally better looking than when taken with other devices.
Price:
Off contract, the Sony Xperia Z2 costs $407.99, while the HTC Desire Eye costs $550.
