HTC One A9 News: An Android Phone Disguised As An iPhone
One remarkable feature of the recently released HTC One A9 is that it looks so much like an iPhone 6S. Most reviews of the device say pretty much the same thing – that HTC based much of the phone's design to that of the iPhone. Even if this is so, reviews are also saying that there is more to the device than its looks and with its specs, it is considered a decent mid-range smartphone.
According to a review in TechRadar, the HTC One A9 is not a flagship device and because of this, it is missing some features that are present in all HTC flagships, such as the Boomsound speakers usually found in front of the device. Having a flat body and rounded edges meant getting rid of the speakers. Given its design, however, the review said that it is a big come-on for smartphone users who want a phone that looks good but cannot afford an iPhone.
The phone's display is 5-inch AMOLED screen, with a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. It has scratch-resistant glass which is Corning Gorilla Glass 4. A review in The Verge noted that the phone's display is as good as that of the Samsung Galaxy S6, a high-end device.
Under the hood, it houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 chipset, which is octa-core and runs at 1.5 GHz. It is paired off with 3 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 32 GB which is expandable through a microSD slot.
The phone's main rear-facing camera is a 13 megapixel shooter with dual LED flash. It's secondary front-facing camera is only 4 megapixels. The Verge, however, noted that its cameras were not as good as some flagships.
Another critique of the phone, according to The Verge, is the device's battery performance. With only 2,150 mAh, it is enough for one day use only, which may not be enough for some users who want more.
