HTC One A9 News: More Leaks Confirm Mid-Range Specs

HTC has a launch event today, September 29, and among the devices it is rumored to unveil during said event is the HTC One A9, also called Aero. The company has yet to confirm whether they are indeed introducing said device, but rumors have been circulating about the phone's specifications. According to a report in Tech Radar, the most recent leak shows that the device has mid-range specifications and not high-end as earlier thought.

Another report in Tech Times cited another recent photo leak which confirmed that the device will have a 5-inch full HD AMOLED display. Other reports are saying that the display can still possibly be bumped up to full HD with Gorilla Glass 4 as protection. Design-wise, the new phone will have a physical home button which will reportedly be the fingerprint scanner as well. Power and volume control are located on the side.

Under the hood, it will reportedly have an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor, an Adreno 405 graphic processing unit and 2 GB of RAM. Internal storage will only be available at 16 GB. Its main rear-facing camera may be a 13-megapixel one with a Sony sensor, while its selfie camera may only be 4 megapixels. Battery capacity is said to be at 2,150 mAh. It will likely come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

According to another Tech Times report, another leak showed the device in six color options namely Acid Gold, Opal Silver, Deep Garnet, Carbon Gray, Rose Gold and Cast Iron, with the Rose Gold and Acid Gold looking very close to two of the color variants of the iPhone.

The HTC One A9 is said to be the company's recent attempt to improve smartphone sales after the disappointing sales performance of its other flagship devices. Cher Wang, HTC CEO had earlier announced that they will be launching a new smartphone later this year to replace the One M9.
