HTC One Android 4.4.2, KitKat Update Brings Stereo Audio Issues

The HTC One Android 4.4.2, KitKat update apparently brings an issue to the handset.

Users have been reporting that the stereo audio doesn't work correctly when they record video with the HTC One camcorder app. It works fine in the first video taken after the update, but later ones will only record with the left audio channel rather than full stereo. This makes it harder to hear.

This issue appears to be directly related to the software as reverting back to previous firmware will correct it. Android Authority discovered that the software version 4.19.401.11 is the cause for the problem. HTC hasn't officially acknowledged the problem yet.

The price for the original HTC One has dropped to just $1 for customers purchasing the device through Best Buy.

In order to access the discount, users must sign a new two-year contract through AT&T, Sprint or Verizon and must purchase it before tomorrow.

The retailer is also offering the brand new HTC One M8 for just $150 with a new agreement.

The HTC One M7 comes with a 1.7GHz Snapdragon 600 CPU with 2GB RAM, a 4.7-inch display with 1080 resolution, 32GB storage, a 4-Ultrapixel camera, and a 2300 mAh battery.

The HTC One 2 M8 release date, specs and new features were all revealed at last month's special unveiling event in New York City.

The company's CEO Peter Chou started off the event by discussing the success of the original HTC One M7 and commented on the strategy used to create the latest version.

"People are still saying the HTC One is the best, most beautiful smartphone," said Chou.

The device features a refined version of the all metal design found on the original One.

For the new HTC One M8 Chou stated that its "design is so pure and honest" and that HTC has pushed the use of metal further than anyone in the industry." He also took a shot at some of his company's competitors who use "too much plastic."
