LG G3 vs HTC One M8 Review: Comparison of Specs, Price and Features

With Apple and Samsung battling for smartphone supremacy, it's good to know that other companies have staked their own claims in the quest to be recognized as makers of quality devices that can hold their own against those made by the Cupertino-based and the Korean companies.

Enter HTC's One M8 and LG's G3 into the mix, and what you get are two powerful smartphones that are built to perform well for work and play.

Design:
The One M8 is well-built and features a sleek and luxurious design. It's front and back is made up of mostly brushed aluminum, and it looks and feels like a premium phone. It measures 5.76 x 2.78 x 0.37 inches and weighs 5.64 ounces.

Meanwhile, the G3 has a brushed metal back and measures 5.76 x 2.94 x 0.35 inches and weighs 5.26 ounces.

Features:
The HTC One M8 has a 5-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and it looks good from a wide viewing angle and images are clear even when the phone is in a bright light. The phone is powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.4.2, with versions offering 16GB and 32 GB storage which can be expanded through a microSD card. One fault of this handset lies in its 4MP main camera, which takes decent pictures, but the photos are not as clear and crisp compared to those taken with the LG G3.

The G3 has a bigger display at 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. The screen looks good from all angles and has bright colors, but it doesn't look as bright when under direct sunlight. The phone runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and runs on the Android 5.0, and it comes with an internal storage of 32GB. It also has a slot to accommodate a microSD card. The phone has a 13MP main camera and a 2.1MP front-facing camera, and one interesting feature lets you take a photo by voice recognition, so you can say any word for the camera to take a picture.

Price:
The LG G3 and the HTC One M8 both costs $199.99 on contract with AT&T. For the unlocked versions, the HTC One M8 costs $650, while the LG G3 costs $773.
