HTC One M9 Release Date, Specs News: Rumors and Leaks Swirl Ahead of March 1 Launch Date
The HTC One M9, HTC's next flagship phone will be launched on March 1, during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Unconfirmed reports also say that the company will launch another phone that will feature a bigger screen size than that of the M9, which remains unnamed. It is not clear however what the exact release dates are for the HTC smartphones.
Before its launch, numerous rumors have been circulating about the design and specifications of the M9, which is seen by some as a close competitor to Samsung's next flagship phone, the Galaxy S6. Both phones will be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress.
According to Gotta Be Mobile, most of the photos which claimed that they were the phone's design were fakes, although there was one photo that the report said was probably the closest to the actual design. It shows two phones, one with a 5.0 inch screen and another with a larger screen. Another report in Gotta Be Mobile also pointed out that the new phone may not have any radical design changes as compared to last year's HTC One M8.
Rumored phone specifications, if true, show that this new phone may be at par with Samsung's Galaxy S6. Its 5.0 inch display is 1920 x 1080p HD. It's supposed to have a 3G RAM and 32G internal storage. It is rumored to have a 2.3GHz 8-core Snapdragon 810 processor (64-bit) and is to run on Android Lollipop 5.0.1. The back camera will be a 20.7MP while its front camera is said to be a 4 Ultrapixel (or maybe a 12MP front camera). It's speakers will be Dual HTC Boomsound with Dolby 5.1 Audio Technology and it's battery is rumored to be 2,880 or 3,000mAh.
The report then focused on the likely release date of the phone. If the experience with M8 in 2014 was to be the basis for predicting the release, it's likely that the M9 will be made available in the market the same day it will be announced. This was the case with the M8 in 2014. The other factor is that HTC is making the big reveal on the exact same date as Samsung, so the report says that it may be more critical for HTC to release the phone that same day to ensure brisk sales.
