HTC One Mini Release Date Scheduled for August

The HTC One Mini release date is scheduled for August.

The device will hit the market later on this summer, according to a new report from Bloomberg.

The publication claims to have received this information from two informants who wish to remain anonymous. One of the sources also confirmed that the new smartphone will ship with a lower-resolution screen and a less powerful processor than the larger model.

Rumored specifications for the HTC One Mini include a Snapdragon 400 dual-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a 4-megapixel camera using HTC's UltraPixel technology. The screen on the smartphone will measure in at 4.3-inchs in comparison to the 4.7-inch display found on the original version. This will give it 720p resolution, opposed to the 1080p on the HTC One.

The HTC One Mini will appeal to customers looking to purchase a smaller mid-end device with some of the same great features found on the flagship. It will directly compete with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, which will also debut later this year.

The company also hopes to reinvigorate the line with this new smaller version of the device, as some analysts have stated that HTC has already peaked with the One in terms of sales.

HTC will also release the One Google Edition later on this year. That will be a pure Android device eliminating HTC's stock software and UI normally found on its devices. Samsung was the first company to announce that it would be turning its flagship device into a pure Android handset with the Galaxy S4 Google Edition.

Sony will follow suit, as it will launch a pure Android version of its Xperia Z handset. All of these new devices are expected to hit the market later this year.
