HTC One X Android 4.2.2, JellyBean Update Set to Roll Out This Week
The HTC One X Android 4.2.2, JellyBean update will begin rolling out later on this week.
"HTC AT&T One X customers- We have received Technical Approval for the MR with Sense 5 + OS 4.2.2. The OTA s targeted for 1/29. Thanks!" tweeted Mo earlier this week.
The handset will receive Sense 5.0 with the new firmware and will also bring fixes and some feature tweaks such as multiple lockscreen pages for widgets, Daydream, and some security enhancements. Sense 5 comes with new features including HTC Blinkfeed, HTC Gallery and a cleaner camera interface. The traditional interface will also receive a significant makeover.
The update has passed Technical Approval and could begin rolling out as early as tomorrow. Users can manually check for the update by heading to Settings. Android 4.2.2 will be the final firmware upgrade for the One X.
The HTC One Android 4.4, KitKat update is now available to AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon.
HTC announced earlier this week that it had submitted the update to all four of these carriers and now it is up to them to begin issuing it to their customers.
The company says they should start rolling out next week, however, the releases will vary from carrier to carrier. All of those carriers were fairly quick with the update for the Moto X.
The HTC One successor could be launching soon and rumored specs for the device include dual-rear cameras.
A recently leaked photo of a case said to be for the back of the device shows two large cut outs that could be used for a lens and something else. One of the holes might be for a fingerprint sensor, however, the company's lack of success with the component on the HTC One Max would make going with something like a dual-lens a better idea.
