HTC Smartwatch Rumors, Leaked Photos and Specs: Is the Wearable Device Worthy to Compete with Other Smartwatches?
HTC, the tech company based in Taiwan, will unveil the company's first ever Smartwatch product after releasing their flagship smartphone the HTC 10. The HTC 10 is actually one of the best smartphones this year, but unfortunately, the company isn't doing well in sales; at least relative to Apple, Samsung and other tech giants.
Aside from the HTC 10 and the new smartwatch, HTC is also actually in charge of producing the new Google Pixel devices which are generating lots of buzz, with some fans calling it the iPhone killer.
The HTC Smartwatch is codenamed Halfbeak, and has been in the rumor mill since two years ago. Back then, HTC was rumored to release a wearable device to match the Apple Watch.
The HTC Smartwatch was involved in many rumors that point to delayed releases. It was previously suggested that this smart wearable will be released early in 2015, but that obviously didn't happen. With the released photos, however, the Smartwatch might become a reality sooner than later.
Leaked Photos
A couple of photos of the HTC Smartwatch have been leaked through Weibo. The photos show HTC is joining Motorola, Huawei, LG and Samsung in creating devices running on Android Wear.
HTC Smartwatch Features and Specs
HTC's Smartwatch has long been in the rumors, but it's only been recently that a leak of the actual device in photos has been released. It is a circular watch with a metallic surface and a 360 x 360 resolution.
At the back of the Smartwatch, the Under Armour logo could be seen on top, with the HTC logo at the bottom part. Under Armour is an accessories and sports clothing company which has recent ties with HTC. Under Armour also partnered with HTC over its first fitness wearable called Grip.
Aside from the circular design, the Smartwatch also has a rubber or silicone band. This gives the watch a sporty look and provides evidence that the device is primarily targeted towards health and fitness enthusiasts. On the right side, two physical buttons can be seen. One of these buttons are probably the switch button to power on or off the HTC Smartwatch.
At the back of the watch are pogo pins which may connect to a charging cradle. Some rumors also say that the device will have an AMOLED display, and have Android Wear for its operating system.
Despite the leaked photos, nothing is ever certain until we hear from the company itself.
