HTC Unveils Another High-End Smartphone: HTC One ME
After recently unveiling two high-end smartphones this year, Taiwanese manufacturer HTC is bringing another one to the ever-growing smartphone market. This time, they are calling it HTC One ME.
According to a report in Tech Times, the new phones gets some design elements from the phones they recently announced, the One M9+ and the One ME+. Like the other phones, it has a Quad HD resolution display of 2,560 by 1,440 pixels on a 5.2-inch screen. Polycarbonate is the material of choice for its casing, but with metal frames. It has three color variants -- Meteor Grey, Gold Sepia and Rose Gold.
It is the first phone to be powered by MediaTek's new 64-bit 2.2 GHz octa-core Helio X10 processor, which is reportedly MediaTek's "latest and greatest processor." MediaTek is a Taiwanese semiconductor company. The new phone is going to be the company's first chance to show off their processor and what it can do. The new phone is also equipped with 3 GB of RAM and built-in storage of 32 GB, which like all smartphones is expandable through a microSD slot.

In an effort to outdo competition in terms of camera specifications, the One ME's rear-facing camera is a powerful 20-megapixel one, with 4K video recording capacity and dual LED flash. 4K video recording, according to the report, seems to be a trend among Asian smartphone manufacturers these days. The selfie camera however, is only 4-megapixel Ultrapixel camera, same as the One M9, but is decent enough for selfies and video calls.
The phone is also equipped with a fingerprint sensor, making the phone ready to use with China's own mobile payment system, Alipay. Alipay is Alibaba's answer to Apple Pay and Android Pay. HTC also built its signature BoomSound technology with Dolby Surround Sound in the One ME, so that users can have a "better, more immersive experience out of watching videos and listening to music."
The phone runs on the latest Android Lollipop OS, with the proprietary Sense UI of HTC.
One setback that the report cites is its battery capacity. With only a 2,840 mAh battery and a Quad HD display, battery life may not last that long, which for most smartphone users can be annoying.
So far, the phone is only available for release in China and in other Asian countries at an undisclosed price. For potential buyers outside of Asia, HTC has not made any announcements if they will make this model available outside of Asia.
