Huawei at MWC 2017 News: Huawei Watch 2, P10, P10 Plus Expected to Arrive in Barcelona
The Mobile World Congress is one of the biggest annual events for the technology industry, and it looks like Huawei is going to be very busy at the four-day affair as it will be unveiling its newest wearable, the Huawei Watch 2, and speculations say the company will also be revealing the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus.
Huawei chief executive officer Richard Yu was the one who announced to the world about the Huawei Watch 2's appearance at the MWC. Yu went to the Chinese microblogging site Weibo to let people know about the launch.
The social media post from the Huawei chief carries the hashtags #HuaweiMWC2017 and #HuaweiWatch2, which led many to assume that it would be the gadget's official product name once it was unveiled later this month in Barcelona, Spain.
Yu's Weibo post also carries an apparent advertisement tagline for the product: "Made for free spirits." It was accompanied by a promotional poster of a man looking at his watch while seemingly in workout attire, which makes people wonder if it will be another fitness-focused device, considering that the Huawei Fit just launched in November 2016.
Phone Arena speculates that the Huawei Watch 2 is most likely to be released with the latest Google wearable operating system, the Android Wear 2.0, which comes with the new and customizable always-on setting for watch faces.
Last month, there were reports that the Huawei Watch 2 might carry the option to include cellular connectivity through a SIM card slot. Added to that, the wearable device is expected to sport a 1.4-inch round display in a 42-millimeter body.
On the other hand, Huawei is also expected to set the stage for the introduction of the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus. Just last week, a promotional poster for the devices was leaked and it provided information about the variants' random access memory and pre-installed read-only memory capacities, plus their corresponding retail prices.
The Huawei P10 will have three variants that offer 4 to 6 GB of RAM and 32 to 128 GB of internal memory with its price ranging from ¥3,488 ($508) up to ¥4,688 ($683). For the Huawei P10 Plus, buyers can choose between a ¥4,988 ($726)-worth variant that has 4 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM or a ¥5,688 ($828)-worth option with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB internal memory.
