Huawei Mate 8 Specs: Android Phablet a Better Device Than Samsung Galaxy Note 5?
The Huawei Mate 8 flagship phablet is now being touted as a direct competition to Samsung Galaxy Note 5, and some reviews say it is even better than its bigger rival.
The Chinese manufacturer may not be as popular as Samsung in the high-end market, but its new Android-powered Huawei Mate 8 has taken the phablet to a whole new level. The newly unveiled flagship device may even be better than the Galaxy Note 5, according to Forbes.
Recenlty, Samsung has opted for sealed batteries and no microSD card slot in its recent flagship devices. Although Huawei Mate 8 has a 4,000 mAh fixed battery, it has a microSD card slot and is more affordable, and these things present a very big advantage for the phablet. Samsung, on the other hand, is rumored to have decided to bring back microSD support next year, the report relays.
The Huawei Mate 9 boasts of a six-inch touch screen display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels to help lessen battery consumption. The phablet runs on the Kirin 950 octa-core processor with the Mali-T880 graphics chip and LTE 4G modem. A co-processor has been included to take charge of lower priority tasks. Consumers can choose from the variants with 32 GB of memory and 3 GB of RAM, 64 GB of memory and 4 GB of RAM, and the 128 GB of memory with 4 GB of RAM, the report details.
The Chinese smartphone maker's new flagship device runs the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system with the Huawei's EMUI 4.0 interface. It comes with a 16-megapixel rear snapper from Sony and an 8-megapixel front camera, Information Week reports.
The body of the Mate 8 is made of aerospace-grade aluminum and 2.5D curved diamond cut glass. It is available in Champagne Gold, Space Gray, Mocha Brown, and Moonlight Silver color options, the report adds.
Other interesting features of the Mate 8 are voice controls, defragmenter and eRecovery, power-saving firewall, and roaming, payment, and navigation capabilities.
Huawei Mate 8 will be released soon in China and will be unveiled in the United States during the CES in Las Vegas in January. The flagship phablet is expected to be available in the United States and other countries outside of China early 2016.
