Huawei Mate 9 Release Date and Updates: Will It Feature Dual Lens Camera? Specs and Everything You Need to Know
Chinese company Huawei has been trying to penetrate the US market in the previous years. With the huge success of the Nexus 6P last year and the Huawei P9 earlier this year, fans have nothing but excitement for the next flagship to be introduced by the tech company—the Huawei Mate 9.
Possible Release Date
Having collaborated with big names in the tech industry, Huawei has proven itself worthy of the praise it has garnered over the past few years. Google and Leica have both partnered with the Chinese company to build premium flagship devices and Huawei aims to continue to do that by launching a new smartphone.
The Huawei Mate 9 will be seeing light on either late November or early December. This goes in line with a leak originating from Chinese microblogging site Weibo. It puts the launch date of the Mate 9 in line with Huawei's tradition of introducing a new addition to the Mate lineup at the tail end of the year.
As it is entering relatively late in the game, the Huawei Mate 9 will directly compete with huge and more favored brands. The new iPhone 7 lineup, the infamous Samsung Galaxy Note 7, and the media beast LG V20 are just some of its heavy competitors.
Specs Rundown
The Huawei Mate 9 will no doubt have to claw its way among the bunch of phablets with similar price tags and a somewhat similar spec sheet. Given this, Huawei does not skimp in any way when it comes to specs and features.
It will be showcasing a huge 5.9-inch display with a 1080 x 1920 Quad HD resolution. It will sport the IPS-NEO LCD technology, and will be protected by Gorilla Glass 4. The overall unibody construction will then feature the same smooth and premium finish of its previous iteration. It will also most likely feature the same color variants—Champagne Gold, Moonlight Silver, Space Gray, and Mocha Brown.
It will be run by Huawei's own top of the line Kirin chipset. The latest in the proprietary processors would be the Kirin 960 processor, clocked at 2.8GHz. This will be paired with a whopping 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It will then sport the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, with Emotion UI 5.0 skin on top.
The highlight of the Huawei Mate 9 would probably be the camera setup. Borrowing from Huawei P9's dual camera concept, the Mate 9 camera's dual lens setup would also be certified by Leica. The two 20-megapixel lenses would then provide sharper photos with better contrast and color reproduction. One sensor will shoot in full color, while the other will shoot in monochrome.
Truly, Huawei has come a long way. With the recent developments in its smartphone lineup, the Chinese electronics company has continuously offered high-end devices to its end consumers and the Huawei Mate 9 surely would not disappoint.
