Huawei News: Chinese Company Wants to Launch Flagship in the U.S., as Huawei Watch Now in India
Huawei, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has big plans for the year especially when it comes to expanding its market reach to other countries. According to a Tech Times report, Huawei is planning to release a new flagship phone in the United States this year, which is going to compete against the newest flagships of other companies. Another report in Gadgets 360 on the other hand reports that another Huawei device, the Huawei Watch is already available in India.
Huawei has been slowly expanding its market beyond its home country, China. And according to a report in Android Police, the company's chief of consumer electronics Richard Yu said that it wants to launch a flagship device in the U.S. market this year. So far, the only Huawei devices that are available stateside are the Nexus 6P which carries Google branding rather than Huawei's, and the budget phone P8 Lite.
Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, Yu said that they "want to become No. 1 as a premium brand," thereby indicating that they want to compete head on with other leading brands such as Apple and Samsung. Although Huawei has not confirmed if they are indeed launching the Huawei P9, based on recent leaks, the phone is shaping up to be a powerful phone with a Kirin 950 chipset paired with 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, a 3,000 mAh battery and a dual 12 megapixel rear camera set up with Leico optics.
Huawei is also eyeing other markets for its other devices such as the Huawei Watch. The Android Wear watch is already available in India, after it was launched at the MWC 2015, according to Gadgets 360 report, Indian consumers can now buy the watch via Flipkart. The smartwatch has a 42mm case, and has 1.4-inch AMOLED touchscreen with 400 x 400 pixels resolution. Under the hood, it is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 chipset, with 4 GB internal storage and 512 MB of RAM. Only leather bands will be available in the country.
