Huawei Nexus Specs Leaked: Metal Design, Dual LED Flash Camera and Fingerprint Scanner
Google has yet to release its next generation Nexus devices for the year 2015 and this year, it is rumored that they will be releasing not just one but two devices. According to a Tech Times report, Google is working with two companies, Chinese manufacturer Huawei and Korean company LG for its next set of Nexus devices.
The report further noted that Nexus devices were among the most popular in market mainly because of the "pure Android experience" it provides and of course, being Google devices, they are also among the first to receive Android software updates, earlier than the rest of the Android devices in the market.
If these reports turn out to be true, it will be the first time that Google is collaborating with a Chinese company for their flagship Nexus device. The fact that Google is releasing two devices at a time is another first. With the Huawei partnership, Google is also in a good position to introduce its Play services in the huge Chinese smartphone market.
The leaked images were shared by Nowhereelse.fr and a Google+ user, and the photos show the Huawei Nexus will have a metal chassis. The phone's camera is located at the back, together with its dual LED flash under a glass panel. No spec details about the type of camera however was given.
The fingerprint scanner can also be found at the back of the device, under which the Nexus name is embossed. Also at the rear of the device is a microphone and standard antenna bands that are usually found in metal-finish devices.
The photos of the device's front feature a 5.7-inch screen, a front camera (also no specs given) and a pair of front speakers. The device is rumored to have a Quad HD screen with a resolution of 2,650 by 1,440 pixels.
Another report in Forbes provides more details in terms of the device's specs, but these are also based on online leaks from Twitter phone leaker, OnLeaks. Under the hood, the report said that the Huawei Nexus will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, with 3 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 64 GB. Google may opt to have a 32 GB variant, but may not have a 16 GB one.
Being a Nexus device, it is expected to come with the newest Android OS 6.0, codenamed Marshmallow, which is said to feature more control over permissions as well as additional security features.
