Huawei Planning To Bring Honor Brand To U.S., Honor 5X Smartphone Rumored To Be The First Device To Arrive

It's never really easy to penetrate the U.S. smartphone market especially since the competition is pretty high. But that doesn't stop Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei from planning on bringing their products to the western side of the world.

According to a report by Eweek, Huawei is set to announce that it will be entering the U.S. market to bring in budget-priced mobile devices from its Honor smartphone division sometime in 2016. Honor is a sub-brand of Huawei and is responsible for devices like the Honor 5X and Honor 7.

The announcement will be done during the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which is scheduled in January, at an event the company is reportedly sponsoring at the show.

International Business Times reported that the "Honor" brand had been utilized by the company in China, the U.K. and several European countries. This time, they will be including the U.S. and the president of Honor Global, George Zhao, was the one who announced the news during a press event held to commemorate the company's second anniversary in China.

"The United States market is the highest-end market for Huawei, so we have been planning for a very long time. The International CES is planned for January, as you know, so you should expect to hear more about our United States plan at that time," stated Zhao.

According to 9to5Google, invites have already been sent out for the CES event but it didn't reveal much details. However, there are speculations that Honor might grab the opportunity to announce the availability of the Honor 5X in the country. The said device has been around since October in China but it was never made available in the U.S.

The Honor 5X sports a 5.5-inch 1080p display and comes with a Snapdragon 616 chip with a 64-bit quad-core 1.7 GHz Cortex A53 processor and quad-core 1.2 GHz A53 processor. Along with it is an Adreno 405 GPU. In China, it comes in two variants - one sporting 2 GB of RAM while the other one comes with 3 GB of RAM.
