Hugh Hefner Turns 90 and Reflects on His Life
On Saturday, Hugh Hefner celebrated his 90th birthday and along with the big "Casablanca" party night, he also shared some of the things he learned in his 90 years of life.
In a recent and exclusive interview with People, the famous playboy said, "I was always a dreamer. And I did everything I could to make that dream come true."
Hefner is known for being the founder of Playboy Enterprises but unlike many who gained their riches through family ties and heritage, Hefner made a name for his own and has become one of the greatest names in the magazine publishing industry.
Looking back on his younger years, Hefner said, "I had a happy childhood." Though he celebrated his 90th birthday just a day after his only brother, Keith, died at 87 years old from cancer, he didn't fail to remember their memories together.
All throughout his magazine's run, it has been involved in several controversies and last month, the publication decided to stop featuring completely nude photos of women. Despite some of the backlash that the mag received, Hefner still believes that "Playboy is a fantasy life for a lot of people. Including me."
The business mogul has four children and remembering his early days as an aspiring business owner, he admitted that he wasn't around most of his time for his first two children, Christie and David.
As for his second marriage, he was much more prepared. "I was ready to be a dad again," he said, referring to the arrival of Cooper and Marston.
Finally, he spoke about his third wife, Crystal, who he described as "one in a million." The two tied the knot at the stunning Playboy Mansion in 2012. On the eve of Hefner's birthday bash, the 29-year-old model posted a flashback photo of her with Hefner last year.
Hefner is known for his many affairs but he is also appreciated for his philanthropic works including charitable donations for animal organizations and the much-controversial anti-vaccination campaign called Generation Rescue.
