Hulu vs Netflix Review: Which Streaming Service To Get Following Their Big Emmy Wins

Streaming platforms make it possible for anyone to enjoy watching movies or TV shows at any device and at one's own time. But with so many services available, which one offers good value for money? Which streaming service should one subscribe to?

Hulu is likely a popular choice these days because it recently earned the distinction of being the very first streaming service to win an Emmy for "The Handmaid's Tale." It beat Netflix for this honor considering that the latter has been more aggressive in coming out with a bunch of new shows and original movies for the last two years.

Hulu's library of original content is admittedly fewer than Netflix. None of the platform's other shows, apart from "The Handmaid's Tale," are also making enough buzz or noise on social media but Hulu won't consider these as flops. On the contrary, "Casual" and "Difficult People," which both premiered on the platform in 2015, received above 80 percent ratings from the viewers.

Mike Hopkins, Hulu's Chief Executive, told Market Watch that its subscriber base should get a boost from "The Handmaid's Tale" and its Emmy feat. The company has big plans for producing more original content moving forward.

Hulu's monthly subscription is $7.99 but the shows and movies are broken down with commercials. Netflix's monthly subscription rates vary but a standard package is about $8.99 and there are no commercial loads.

While Netflix did not land an Emmy Best Drama or Comedy award, it won Outstanding TV Movie for "Black Mirror: San Junipero," acting recognition for John Lithgow for "The Crown," writing recognition for Charlie Brooker, Aziz Ansari, and Lena Waithe.

Netflix is way ahead of the pack when it comes to producing quality original content and it won't stop producing more shows and movies. It is home to series like "The Crown," "Stranger Things," "House of Cards," "Orange is the New Black," and "Narcos." It has also worked out deals with Brad Pitt, Martin Scorsese, and other esteemed actors and directors for feature films.

Netflix also has over 100 million members around the world. It has the biggest audience in the streaming service market. At this point, Netflix might provide more bang for the buck.
