Human Head, Hand Found Near Hollywood Sign

A human head and severed hand were found in the Hollywood Hills area not far from the Hollywood sign.

As previously reported by The Christian Post, a human head was found by two hikers at about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday while walking near the famous Hollywood sign.

The pair of women - who will remain unidentified until police have investigated further - were walking their dogs when the canines began to tear furiously at a weighed down plastic bag.

Out of the bag rolled a human head.

The two immediately called park rangers, who in turn notified police.

“Two of the dogs began to play with the bag and what appeared to be an object. At some point the object came out of the bag and they discovered that it was a head - a severed head,” Sgt. Mitzi Fierro of the Los Angeles Police Department told KCAL-TV.

The head seemingly belonged to an Armenian man in his 40s with salt-and-pepper hair.

Now, police have reported they have found a severed hand about 50 yards from where the head was found, according to The Associated Press. This sparked a renewed effort to search for the rest of the possible body parts along the iconic Bronson Canyon trail.

“We’re hoping we can find more remains,” LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith told The Los Angeles Times.

Those who live in the area volunteered their own theories as to why other body parts have not be located yet.

Some local residents believe the body parts were left after early-morning exercisers did their daily walks or jogs; that could be why the parts were not found until the afternoon.

In addition, some think wild coyotes, which are very prevalent in the area, could have moved the remains, according to The Times.

Authorities are working to identify the man via a sketch artist, dental records and fingerprints.
