Hunter Shoots Brother Dead in Tragic Deer Hunting Accident

A hunter has been accidentally shot to death by his own brother. Harry Weaver, 26, from Lakeview, Michigan, was dressed in a camouflaged hunting blind when he was shot in the head by a stray bullet - shot by his own brother, according to The Daily Mail.

The incident happened in land that was owned by the family in Mecosta County in Michigan. That day, Harry had not told his younger brother David that he was going hunting. He was taking refuge in a hunting blind when David hunted deer with several of his friends.

David fired at a deer which stepped in front of the hunting blind three times. The deer was not shot but Harry was only discovered dead after family members noticed he did not return from his chores.

According to police, the incident is a tragic accident which should serve as a warning to other hunters. Harry was over 400 yards away from David when he was shot. With the limited visibility, David could only see the top of the deer blind.

“Evidence found at the scene initially pointed to the fact that the brother may have been the one to fire the fatal shot,” said Sheriff Todd Percell. “It’s an accidental tragedy that the hunting community is aware of.”

Percell went on: “The brother did not come back for chores, which threw red flags up to the family, at which point they went out to search for him and they found him. The family is doing as best as possible.”
