Hyundai G70 News: South Korean Automaker's Attempt at Toppling BMW from the Top
The automobile market has increased its activity during the last few weeks as makers unveil new models one after another. Recent reports have revealed that Hyundai Motors has no plans of lagging behind as they have recently unveiled the G70, which is expected to directly compete with BMW's 3 Series in the midsize sports sedan category.
According to Fortune, the G70 is set to be added to the Genesis lineup of the South Korean automaker. It seems that fans in their home country will get to experience the midsize sports sedan first before the G70 arrives on U.S. shores. Hyundai Motors is also reaching new heights as their newest flagship is made to compete with luxury automakers like Mercedes C Class and Audi A4. There is no official launch date yet for Europe and China.
"We will definitely go to China but we cannot give you exact date yet," Manfred Fitzgerald, Head of Genesis Division, said in a statement, as reported by U.S. News and World Report. "We have to be well prepared as a brand. You have to be present there before going there."
Hyundai Motors' dedication to preparing the G70 for entrance in the Chinese market was hailed as good decision by the automobile community. Considering that they faced rapidly declining sales and diplomatic tensions, the automakers will have to have a solid plan and defense in case the country attempts to reject their latest attempt at topping BMW in the market.
The Hyundai G70 will be offered in three variants, with the top of the line model featuring a powerful 2.0-liter I4 gasoline turbo or a 1.1-liter I4 diesel. The G70 Sport is able to jump from zero to 60 miles per hour in 4.7 seconds.
The midsize sports sedan will come with a hefty price tag of $33,000, and it is expected to hit showrooms along with three other models by 2021.
