New Apple iMac to Arrive in September 2017?

Recent rumors about the new iMac suggest that the device will arrive in September or the last quarter of this year. Apple users expect the tech giant to officially announce the release date of iMac 2017 at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which is scheduled from June 5 to 9.

The new device will reportedly sport Intel's Kaby Lake processor. However, if its launch is delayed, Apple might use a Cannon Lake processor instead. If the iMac 2017 will sport a Kaby Lake processor, then one bonus that the device will offer to users is its support for both USB Type-C and Thunderbolt 3. Thunderbolt 3 will give the iMac 2017 the capability to get plugged into another computer.

There are also rumors that for those will purchase the top model of the iMac, they have the option for the Core i7-7700 processor, which can run at 4.2 GHz on a routine basis. Currently, the only chip option for the build-to-order iMac is 4 GHz.

Some reports also claim that the 27-inch iMac 2017 will sport S-series processors, which include the Core i5-7500, Core i5-7600 and the Core i7-7700K. For its graphics processing unit (GPU), the device will reportedly use AMD Polaris, which will extremely advance its graphics performance. The 27-inch iMac will also feature an OLED Touch Bar, just like the 2016 MacBook Pro.

In a previous interview, Apple CEO Tim Cook called the iMac desktop "the best desktop."

"The current generation iMac is the best desktop we have ever made and its beautiful Retina 5K display is the best desktop display in the world. Some folks in the media have raised the question about whether we're committed to desktops. If there's any doubt about that with our teams, let me be very clear: we have great desktops in our roadmap. Nobody should worry about that," he said.

Apple has yet to confirm the features of the new iMac unit, but tech enthusiasts speculate that given its rumored features, the iMac 2017 could cost around $3,100.
