iMac 2017 Rumors: Is a March Debut in the Works for the New Desktop?
New iMacs previously expected to show up last October
The iMac may not be getting the same level of attention as it did before, but there are still people looking out for it and hoping to see it get updated. And now, there's a chance that may happen sometime soon.
First off, it's worth going back a little bit to understand why people still expect that a new version of Apple's desktop will be introduced.
Back in August, a Bloomberg report included an interested tidbit related to the new desktop, hinting that an updated model featuring new graphics chips as well as multi-functional USB-C port could be officially launched as early as October of last year.
That launch didn't happen, however, and so expectations shifted and more recent rumors have hinted that the official reveal of the next-gen desktop could take place within the early part of this year.
Well-regarded KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo hinted that the launch of the new iMac may even take place sometime around March or April of this year, MacRumors reported.
The mention of March is particularly interesting since Apple held an event during that month last year.
Back then, the iPhone SE and the 9.7-inch iPad Pro became the stars of the show. However, for this year, there's a chance that the 2017 edition of the iMac will be the one getting talked up on stage.
Unfortunately, while rumors have been pointing to a potential March unveiling for the updated Apple desktop, they are not quite as detailed when it comes to hinting at what new features, if any, may actually be introduced.
Beyond the aforementioned inclusion of the multi-functional USB-C port and the upgraded graphics chips, exactly how else the new desktop may differ from ones released in years past remains unclear.
March is almost here, however, and hopefully for those seeking the new iMac, they will see an updated desktop that was well worth the wait.
