'Imaginary Mary' Season 1 Episode 2: Alice Tries to Show Off Her Mommy Skills in 'The Mom Seal'

ABC has just previewed the pilot episode of its newest comedy series, "Imaginary Mary," which features Jenna Elfman as a career-driven woman named Alice, who can suddenly see her imaginary friend, Mary, once again.

Alice, who is now a single public relations executive, had a hard time dealing with her parents' divorce when she was a kid, which resulted in the creation of an imaginary friend named Mary.

Mary, voiced by Rachel Dratch, is a furry little blue-and-white creature that suddenly reappears in Alice life when she starts dating Ben (Stephen Schneider), a single father of three. But will her reappearance really help Alice be a better version of herself, or will Mary end up bringing out the very worse in her now adult friend?

The upcoming premiere episode titled "The Mom Seal" will give Alice a chance to prove to Ben that she can take on the role of his kids' second mom. Ben will ask Alice to pick Bunny (Erica Tremblay) up from dance class, but along the way, Alice will quickly discover that even the simplest parental tasks may be fraught with difficulty.

This realization will make Alice tell Ben that she can no longer help him with the kids, but she may still change her mind when an opportunity to help out one of the kids presents itself. Andy (Nicholas Coombe) needs help to overcome his fear of taking a driving test, and he turns to Alice for help. Will Alice be able to redeem herself and realize that taking care of kids may be tough, but it also does yield some pretty good rewards?

As of now, "Imaginary Mary" has an order for nine episodes, which could increase depending on the show's performance in the ratings. This will be Elfman's fifth show since the popular "Dharma & Greg" ended in 2002. Will this show fare better than her previous four shows, which never made it past the first season?

"Imaginary Mary" officially premieres on Tuesday, April 4 at 9:30 p.m. EDT on ABC.
