Immigration Reform 2015 News: Obama Takes New Policies to Supreme Court

On Tuesday, President Barack Obama took another step higher in his attempts to keep more than 4 million illegal immigrants in the country from being sent back to their countries of origin.

According to Yahoo!, the U.S. President took his cause to the Supreme Court after a lower court ruled against his immigration plans that would eventually protect millions of illegal immigrants from deportation.

Obama's most recent move is considered as one that would further fuel the battle between presidential candidates who have made the issue a hot topic during debates. One of the most popular comments centered on the topic is that of Republican front-runner Donald Trump wherein he blatantly revealed his ideas apparently against illegal immigration.

The Justice Department, known for supporting Obama's plans, has also stated its support for the plea, stating that the government wing will go as far as challenging lower court rulings that continue to block the President's plans.

The immigration plan laid out by Obama, known as Deferred Action for Parents of Americans, is one of the African-American President's biggest achievements, if everything goes well. Experts believe that he will most likely fight for the measure to be enacted before someone takes his place in January of 2017.

Obama's move follows after an appeals court ordered the President to stop his plans, which he created last year in the form of an executive order that is purposed to go around Congress. The reason behind the plan being an executive order in the Congress is because it has high chances of losing in legal bouts against 26 states, including Texas.

To date, there are about 12 million immigrants who are illegally residing in the country, and in Obama's plan, only about 4 million will be protected from deportation. Conservatives have long been open about their insights against the reform since they believe that people entering the United States should adhere to any immigration laws under the government.

According to CNN, the new policies in Obama's paper give the 4 million undocumented immigrants eligibility for job applications and other associated benefits.
