This clash represents two of the more talented squads in the East as the Hawks have been one of the best since a few seasons ago, while the Pacers are looking to get back to the heights they had a few seasons back.

And with both squads trying to lead in the East, this clash is even more important as it greatly affects the standings in the conference.
The Hawks are currently leading the Southeast Division and are trying to add more breathing space between them and the Miami Heat who are trying to chase them.
On the other hand, the Pacers may be fourth in the Central Division, but they are still within striking range of the second place in the group as they battle things out with the Chicago Bulls and the Detroit Pistons.
The Pacers and Hawks are slated to meet four times this season and so far, they have only battled once.
In that match-up, it was a closely contested game where the Pacers pulled off a 93-87 victory at home.
Atlanta had a small lead by the end of the first quarter but it was a blistering second quarter from the Pacers that gave them the double-digit lead.
In the third quarter, the Hawks trimmed the lead down a little bit but they simply ran out of steam to make-up for the deficit and eventually lost.
Monta Ellis had a good game for Indiana as he scored 26 points on the night, while Paul Millsap led the Hawks with 24 points.
