Indianapolis Colts NFL Trade and Roster Rumors: Colts Willing to Move Star Receiver T. Y. Hilton

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T. Y. Hilton seems to be drawing some trade interest in the days leading up to the National Football League (NFL) trade deadline.

According to ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio, the Colts are willing to move Hilton as long as the price is right, but he added that the three-time Pro Bowler prefers to stay in Indianapolis.

"Multiple sources have now told PFT that the Colts are willing to move Hilton. However, the Colts won't want to simply give him away. Moreover, Hilton (we're told) won't be inclined to renegotiate a contract that pays him a salary of $8 million this year, $11 million next year, and $13 million in 2019," Florio said.

Hilton's coming off the best season of his six-year NFL career and expectations were high when the season began. However, his numbers have taken a significant dip with Andrew Luck on the sidelines, and the quarterback isn't coming back anytime soon.

The Colts are not going to compete for the American Football Conference (AFC) South championship. That much is clear even before the season started. So trading Hilton for future assets is an option the Colts should really consider.

However, Hilton is the team's best offensive playmaker and they need him around if they want to be competitive when Luck returns to the field.

"Even though it's seeming less and less likely that quarterback Andrew Luck will play at all in 2017, he surely will be playing in 2018. If he is, he'll want and need to have Hilton around," Florio stated.

The Colts' recent struggles seem to have taken its toll on him, and he criticized the team's offensive line after their 27–0 shutout loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Oct. 22. Hilton has already apologized for his comments, though.

Florio has also noted that the Colts' willingness to trade him has nothing to do with his recent criticism.
