Indianapolis Colts Quarterback Andrew Luck to Return to Practice This Week

It appears Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is finally going to step foot on the practice field this week.

During an appearance on WFNI-1070 AM on Monday, Colts general manager Chris Ballard talked about Luck and he confirmed that they are going to bring him along slowly in practice as he continues to recover from shoulder surgery.

"We'll slowly start working him back into practice this week,'' Ballard said, via ESPN.

"Everybody has to understand he's not going to come back and take all the first-team reps and play 50, 60, 70 snaps in practice a day. We have to integrate him back into practice. Like anybody else, do some individual, throw some routes versus air, stay with his throwing progression and bring him along. Again, it'd be great just to have him out there with his teammates, red jersey on, working again," he added.

Colts fans have been waiting for Luck to make his return for weeks now. The quarterback had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder earlier this year, and he missed training camp and the entire preseason. Fans were optimistic he could play soon when the Colts removed him from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list before the start of the season, but he has yet to participate in practice.

The Colts really need all the help they could get after a dismal 1–3 start to the 2017 season. Of course, it can be argued that they have a flawed roster and getting Luck back won't solve all their problems. Still, it will be good to have him back in the lineup.

The team started the season with Scott Tolzien as their starting quarterback, but he was replaced by Jacoby Brissett after just one game. Since it will take Luck some time to get back into game shape, Brissett should continue to start for the Colts when they take on the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday.
