'Injustice 2' DLC: NetherRealm Slips in a Surprise for Fans in Raiden Gameplay Trailer
The next character to join the "Injustice 2" roster hails from the "Mortal Kombat" realm, but there's a twist.
A new gameplay trailer shows off thunder god Raiden in action, putting on display some epic moves as he takes on some superheroes and villains from the DC Comics universe.
Raiden is the second character from "Mortal Kombat" to set foot in "Injustice 2," the first one being Sub-Zero. He completes the lineup for the Fighter Pack 2, which includes also Black Manta and Hellboy.
Raiden's "Injustice 2" debut was already expected, but NetherRealm Studios prepared an extra surprise for fans in the gameplay trailer they released for the character.
It was revealed there that a premiere skin for DC Comics hero Black Lightning will also be available as part of the Ultimate Edition of "Injustice 2." The skin will be based on Raiden, which means that Black Lightning will share the same moveset as the "Mortal Kombat" character.
The similarity is down to the super technique, in which the characters suspend their opponent above ground and bring them to a "Mortal Kombat" stage, where they will hit them with Superman charges before awakening the dragon from "Mortal Kombat" logo who will deliver the death blow.
Black Lightning will, of course, have his own set of dialog. Fans can hear him warn Robin in the gameplay trailer, "You'll be struck by Black Lightning."
Gamers seem to be pleased with the addition of Black Lightning in "Injustice 2." The character is getting a lot of love of late with a series based on him coming to The CW.
More importantly, many were upset that Raiden was chosen to be in the game because some feel that there are already one too many "Mortal Kombat" characters running around the game and that the roster should give room for more characters from the DC Comics since there is a whole multiverse to choose from.
It turns out that NetherRealm Studios has something else in store with the Black Lightning premiere skin a nice surprise to the naysayers.
The "Injustice 2" Fighter Pack 2 will be out next month.
