'Injustice 2' Firestorm Gameplay News: Watch New Character Impress With Power Moves
Gamers got their first look at Firestorm, a new character for "Injustice 2," via the story trailer recently released by NetherRealm Studios.
According to WWG, Firestorm is set to join the other characters who will play huge roles in the epic fight between Batman and Superman in the second part of the "Shattered Alliances" series. The character is reportedly based on the Jason Rusch 2004 version. In the Arrowverse comics, Firestorm is known for his nuclear firepower and signature Supermove. He is shown at around 7:45 in the trailer.
Based on the gameplay briefly glimpsed in the video, the character is a far-range player who can attack from a distance by firing off projectiles at the enemy. His torpedoes are no joke, designed to cause as much damage to the target. Firestorm's fireballs can keep enemies at bay while chipping away at the latter's health. The character's nuclear level can reportedly charge up until three levels of power. At this level, his flames will turn blue, hinting of a special move and a huge boost in the attack power.
"Injustice 2" is the sequel to 2010's DC fighting game "Injustice: Gods Among Us."
In a recent interview with Gamereactor, NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon talked about what is new in the upcoming fighting video game. According to him, gamers can expect new features that include a variety of customization and upgrade options on each character. These will let players personally tailor their avatars based on their own preference.
"Every time you go online you're going to see another person's custom version of Batman, of Superman, of Atrocitus, of Supergirl, and that's going to be so exciting because they're going to look differently, they're going to have different advantages based on if the player wants to be more defensive, offensive, or something like that [...] so in a sense every time you go online and play somebody, you're playing a unique version of those characters," Boon said in the Gamereactor interview.
"Injustice 2" will launch for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 16.
