'Injustice 2' News: NetherRealm Studios' Ed Boon Comments on What a Switch Version of the Fighting Game Could Be Like

Boon thinks the fighting game could be enjoyable on the Switch

In a year that has already had its fair share of significant fighting game releases, "Injustice 2" has separated itself from the pack by featuring a robust single-player experience and also giving fans plenty of content to go through.

The game was a commercial success too as it topped sales charts earlier this year.

Thus far, only PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners have been able to enjoy the fighting game, but that may change soon. Interestingly enough, it may be Nintendo's newest console that could serve as the next destination for this particular NetherRealm offering.

Speaking recently to GameSpot at the Brazil Game Show, the studio's creative director, Ed Boon, talked briefly about what a Switch version of the title could be like.

Boon acknowledged how different of a platform the Switch is. Because of that, a separate team may have to take on the responsibility of developing that version.

Still, Boon seemed open to the idea of "Injustice 2" coming to the Switch, sharing that he thinks the game could be fun to play on the Nintendo console. He even pondered the possibilities that could be opened up by the Switch, hinting that perhaps tournaments could be set up where the participants involved would arrive with their own systems.

Over on Reddit, fans have expressed excitement over the idea of the fighting game being released for the Switch. Some also praised Boon for being straightforward with his responses.

It is worth noting, of course, that Boon did not actually confirm that the game will be made available for the Switch, but still, him even talking about the possibility at all has to be encouraging.

Fighting game fans will just have to wait and see how this whole thing unfolds. Even though "Injustice 2" is only out for the PS4 and Xbox One right now, there may still be a chance that it will be released for a third platform in the future.
