'Insurgent' Movie News: First Teaser Trailer Released

The first teaser trailer for "Insurgent" has been released, and features Shailene Woodley as Tris as she tries to save her family from Jeanine Matthew's (Kate Winslet) evil schemes.

The teaser, titled "Defy Reality," begins with Tris standing in front of her city which looks as if it was devastated by a huge fire. Her mother (Ashley Judd) comes out of their home and stands in the doorway and calls her name. Then, their home is engulfed in flames and she shouts for help.

The house begins to shift and is lifted off the Earth, and Tris sprints across a rooftop and leaps off the building to grab onto a rope dangling from the house, which is now mysteriously afloat.

"The world will never be the same" is the message flashed on the screen in between quick cuts of Tris in an intense action sequence that is very similar to the fear landscapes that were previously shown in Divergent, so it can be assumed that the scene is either a fear landscape of a dream sequence.

"Insurgent" is the follow-up to "Divergent," and the movies are based on the dystopian novel franchise written by Veronica Roth. In "Insurgent," unrest among the factions grows as Tris and Four (Theo James) attempt to rally members of rival factions to their cause. However, traitors are everywhere and will do whatever it takes to maintain the social order.

In a previous interview with James, the actor hinted that the movie adaptation of "Insurgent" will be slightly different from the novel.

"You have to honor the material for the first film because you have a fan base, but when you come to the second one, if you've done well with the first movie, you have the ability to think outside the box," James said to E! News.

Along with Woodley, James, Winslet, and Judd, the movie features Ansel Elgort, Zoe Kravitz, Miles Teller, Maggie Q., and other stars from "Divergent" who will be reprising their roles.

"Insurgent" premieres on March 20, 2015.
